Breathing Techniques When You Do Cardio

Breathing properly while doing any kind of exercise is very important for the proper functioning of the lungs. Whether you are walking, swimming, cycling or running, breathing properly is very important to ensure safe and comfortable exercising. Taking regular and deep breaths helps in the proper transfer of oxygen to the lung of your body.


Proper breathing also ensures the proper flow of blood through your muscles. It also helps to eliminate various waste materials as well as waste gases like carbon dioxide out of the body.



Proper breathing is also important while resting in between regular exercises. There are many techniques of breathing that increases your body’s endurance.



Types Of Breathing Exercises


The following breathing exercises can be applied while doing cardio workout:

Diaphragmatic Breathing: To do this, relax the shoulders and lie down or sit back. Then place one hand on the chest and relax and open the chest slowly and steadily. Lift your chin while breathing in.

Baby Pushup Breathing Exercise: This is a type of pushup exercise that can be done at low levels without using your shoulders. Press the hands on the ground and take a deep breath in while slowly lifting yourself at 60degrees above the floor. Lower yourself and as you come down, exhale slowly.

Breathe from The Belly: Lie down on the floor and extend the legs flat on the floor and place one hand on the stomach and the other hand on the chest. Inhale deeply and slowly and pull from your abdomen. You shall notice that your belly rises higher than your hand on the chest while breathing. Exhale deeply and slowly through the mouth. Try to hold your breath for seven seconds at the end while exhaling.



Doing proper and balanced breathing exercises while cardio workout helps to build up the muscle tissues that surround the lungs. It also helps any muscle damage to the lungs.
