Creating a website is a fun and exciting venture; however, if you do not have information technology skills, then this is something that you won't be able to do. Living in this technological age, all businesses need to have a website. Customers do a lot of shopping on the internet and they also search for products and services while on the go. If you do not have a website or a mobile presence, you are missing out on all the hype and the business that your competitors are getting.

If you are a new business and is running short on cash, you may be wondering where you will get the money to fund a new, professional website that will hold your viewers' attention. I mean, you have to buy a webhost and then pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars to a professional to create a site. This is true to some extent. While you have to pay for webhosting to make your website seem professional, there are webhosting sites that make creating a website easy, while still having a professional look to it.

How do you create a professional web design without the help of a professional?

The answer to this is simple and all you need to do is buy your domain name from a host that offers tutorials and easy to use software to create your site. Most hosts today offer drag and drop options and while this may sound childish and unprofessional, you will be surprised at the outcome of your design when you are finished. While you can create an easy website, there are still guidelines you will need to follow in order for you to create a site that is easy to use and not complex or complicated for your users.

• Ensure that your hyperlinks are clear and that the design of your website is easy to use. Navigating from one page to the other should not be a challenge for your viewers; so it is essential that you choose menus and buttons that are easy to locate.

• Create a design that your visitors can just scan through to find what they want without having to read and strain their eyes to find simple information.

• Use graphics that are easy to download. Website visitors do not have time to wait on pictures and videos to load; therefore, it is recommended that you use simple graphics and pictures.

• Create a mobile website. As was mentioned before, people are very mobile and they do things on the go. To stay in contact with your customers, create a mobile site that fits their devices perfectly. I cannot tell you how many times I have visited sites on my phone and leave in the middle of my search because it does not fit my screen perfectly.

• Give accurate internal links. No one likes to click on a link only to see a 404 message coming up. Avoid these errors because people will refrain from visiting your site if it happens. To avoid this, check all links before publishing them.

• If you have an ecommerce website, make sure you provide descriptions about all products beneath them. Visitors like to see what they are getting for their money.

Creating a website does not have to be a challenging procedure but there are still guidelines that you will need to follow when creating such sites. With a little help from the internet, you can create a site that is user friendly, informative, and very professional at a price that is affordable to you. Stick to what you know and if you are not an IT wiz, find the right web hosting platform that will help you create professional sites all by yourself.
