You don’t need to go through government or political channels to find free scholarships. You need to know what the resources are to start your search to see what is available. Consider the areas you want to target in terms of the fields you want to look into first. Then assess your test scores and abilities according to any scholastic tests you have taken and decide what you would like to focus on.

Scholarship search sites are a great place to start if you are looking to find scholarships for college. They have databases available for finding college scholarships within the U.S. You can search by location, area of study, or interest and see which ones are available during the time you are applying.

This often changes because new organizations may form and gather new scholarship offers from time to time that you may not know about unless you visit them often. Make a point to look into this site when you are planning for future college entrance exams or deadlines and bookmark them for future reference.

Scholarships for high school students are available in other places, too and you can check out Scholarship Owl, as well. The site claims they have over 500 scholarships for which you may be able to qualify. It’s a good idea to check out the opportunities as early as possible so that you can plan far in advance. By the way, both the Scholarships.com site and the Scholarshipowl.com site offer a way to search for colleges, also. Check them out and see how they can help you plan your future.

Tip: Get a legal pad and make a list of all of the industries you want to go into. Then narrow it to the top 3. Use this top 3 list and underneath it, write the websites of the primary colleges who are offering scholarships in your area. Then brainstorm strategies to win an award from these colleges with your abilities or special skills. Make another list of your talents that you think to help you shine above other applications and start writing a rough draft now of your winning essay!

The sooner you start planning, the more prepared you will be when it comes time to submit your applications. Use all of the online tools we offer here on this site, too. Our goal is to provide engaging, relevant information that will be a constant resource and source of inspiration for young people to help you plan your college career and your life. We also enjoy making people think! That never hurt anyone, did it?
