How to water your plants properly
Watering your plants is not rocket science and there are no set rules. It’s a judgment call that grows with experience and depends on the type of plant, the soil, the weather and the time of year. 1.Focus on the root zone – Remember that it’s the roots that need water and not the leaves. Leaves, if left wet overnight can get leaf-mould diseases and leaves that are left wet in the sun develop slight burn marks at times.
2.Keep them evenly moist – Plants mostly depend on even moisture spread. However, slight drying out before watering can promote root growth.
3.Mulch your garden – Mulching reduces surface water runoff and slows down evaporation from the soil.

9.Use clay-rich quality soil – Soil that is rich in clay minerals has better expanding properties and can therefore hold water better and in a more even way. But in wet summers and in winter, ensure water drainage to prevent waterlogging.
