What is sheet and plate?

A sheet is a thinner item of metal that has been cut from a continuously rolled coil. As such, it can be less than 1mm, or up to 25mm, in thickness. A plate is a thicker item of metal that has been produced (rolled) as a single item.Steel Sheets are the most common raw material used by industries in various shapes and sizes, one such shape of the bar is Sheets & Plates.

The difference between a metal sheet and metal plate can be defined by thickness. If the thickness of the metal is ¼” (6mm) or more, then it is considered a plate. Plate thickness is typically measured in inches. If the thickness is less than ¼” (6mm), it is considered a sheet.
