The chronic toxicity of Metasystox R

A study conducted according to the early guidance of the US Environmental Protection Agency found that the acute LD50 of male partridge was 17 mg/kg (confidence limit 15-19 mg/kg) and that of female partridge was 18.5 mg/kg (confidence limit 14.5-23.5 mg/kg). In an earlier study on a series of birds, pigeons were the most sensitive, with an LD50 of 14.9 mg/kg, while Chakal partridge was the least sensitive, with an LD50 of 113 mg/kg.


The acute dietary study showed that the LD50 of partridge was 361 ppm (CL 272-483 ppm) and that of mallard duck was 2003 ppm (CL 1444-4160 ppm). The NOECs of partridge are 33 ppm and that of mallard duck is 141 ppm. These studies were conducted in accordance with current EPA guidelines.


According to the current guidelines of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the researchers used partridge and mallard duck to conduct a generation breeding study. According to the determination of the Ministry of Environment of Australia, the NOEC of partridge is 10 parts per million and that of mallard duck is 30 parts per million.



According to the guidelines of the Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development (OECD), the acute toxicity of oxydione methyl to rainbow trout and goldmouth fish was determined. The acute LC50 of trout is 109 mg/L with a confidence limit of 50~200 mg/L, corresponding to 12 mg ai/L (CL 5.5~22) with a formula different from that of Australia. NOEL is 2.8 mg ai/L. The LC50 of technical grade active gold porous iron is 436 mg ai/L, and the confidence limit is 290~670 mg ai/L. NOEC measured by the Australian Ministry of Environment is less than 3.8 mg/L.


In addition, some earlier studies have been proposed, but they have not been carried out according to the current standards. The toxicity of oxidized decanedione methyl TGAC to rainbow trout is 17 mg ai/L (CL 12~22 mg ai/L), and the purity is 92.3%. The LC50 of Metasystemox R (oxymethon methyl 250 EC) for rainbow trout is 15.5 mg/L (CL 12.7 - 18.9 mg/L), for golden mouth iron is 28.2 mg/L (CL 27.4-29.1 mg/L), and for bluegill fish is 26 mg/L (20-32 mg/L), all expressed in milligrams.


According to the guidelines of OECD, the chronic toxicity of Metasystox R (oxidative decanedione methyl 250 EC) to rainbow trout was determined under flowing conditions. The LD50 (21 days) determined by the Australian Department of Environment is between 3.3-15.3 mg/L (0.79-3.8 mg ai/L) and 3.3 mg/L (0.79 mg ai/L) of NOEC. According to the guidelines of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Metasystox manufacturing concentrate (50% ai) is used for early life stage testing (from fertilized eggs to fry, 98 days). NOEC is 2.6 mg ai/L and LOEC is 4.9 mg ai/L.


The acute toxicity of Metasystox production concentrate (50% ai) to Daphnia magna was determined according to OECD guidelines. EC50 at 48 h was 0.16 mg ai/L (confidence limit 0.13~0.18 mg ai/L), NOEC<0.1 mg ai/L. This study is considered acceptable. Other earlier studies did not follow international guidelines. The LC50 of these studies was 0.75 mg/L (53.8% ai) for the test substance, between 10 and 90 mg/L (corrected the dilution error in the report), and also for the test substance (50% ai). Under the flow conditions according to the guidelines of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, using technology to oxidize dimethylketone methyl (94.8% ai), the acute LC50 is 0.19 mg ai/L, and the confidence limit is 0.17~0.22 mg ai/L.


The chronic toxicity of Metasystox R (250 EC) to Daphnia magna was determined within 21 days under semi static renewal conditions according to OECD guidelines. NOEC (immobilization) is 0.22 mg/L, equivalent to 0.057 mg ai/L. The dosage used had no effect on reproduction. Another 21 day chronic trial used D Magna, but according to the guidelines of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, under flowing conditions, the use of technology to oxidize methadone (94.8% ai). According to the figure, EC50 is 0.046 mg ai/L and NOEC is 0.027 mg ai/L.


Two aquatic species, marine shrimp and crab, were also tested. This study was not conducted in accordance with current guidelines, using Metasystox R (EC 250 g ai/L). All results are nominal. According to the declared purity of the formula, the LC50 of prawn is 0.87~1.8 mL/L, equivalent to 0.22~0.45 mg ai/L. For crab, EC50 is 8.6 mL/L (CL 6.6 - 11 mL/L), which is equivalent to EC50=2.15 mg ai/L (CL 1.65-2.75 mg ai/L).


Two algal studies were proposed, both in accordance with OECD guidelines. First, the production concentrate (51.3% ai) was used, and the NOEC was 100 mg/L. In the second test using Metasystox R (EC 250), after 96 hours, the formula's EbC50 was calculated to be 22 mg/L and EC50 was calculated to be 49 mg/L. Based on the measured concentration, the NOEC was 3.8 mg/L (nominal). Because the formula control group without effective ingredients showed a high degree of inhibition, it was believed that it was mainly caused by formula additives.
