This article will enlighten the readers on the various types of hand block printing and by the end of it, they are going to have some newfound information to share.

Types by technique

This unique art can be done in various ways; craftsmen can choose the technique that suits them.

Direct hand block printing: - The cloth is given a light background by bleaching first and then dying, after that the outlining blocks are put to work first followed by the filling blocks.

Resist printing: - Areas of the fabric are protected from the dye by a cover made from clay and resin, then it is died and washed, the dye spreads to the protected areas through cracks.

Discharge printing: - A chemical is applied to the fabric after dying to deteriorate it from selected areas; these areas are then fixed and recolored.

Types by States

Bagh of Madhya Pradesh: - Geometric shapes and bright colors get the limelight in this technique; the most unique shades are obtained by using the river’s chemical properties. Bagh can be applied on various types of fabrics such as cotton, silk, chiffon, and bamboo chicks.

After removing starch the fabric is boiled, dried, and then printed. It is widely popular and has got recognition by the state as well as the central governments.

Silver and gold dust of Rajasthan: -Castor oil and roghan gum are used in this technique, the um is squeezed on the fabric in gaps, then the final touches are given by sprinkling dust in necessary amounts to add shine and glitter.

Over time more affordable metals such as mica and chamki are used to make dust instead of gold and silver to make this textile design. Most of them contain small dots and dashes.

Sanganeri of Rajasthan: - Another fine technique from Rajasthan; this time the fabrics are laid out on the table, firmly held in place, and then marked for symmetry. The artisans then use their skilled hands to stamp dye on the cloth using blocks carved into complex designs.

The end product has the power to attract tourists and locals alike.

Leheriya of Rajasthan: - The state of Rajasthan being the hub of hand block printing; has got to have the most variety of techniques. The cloth is tied and folded in a way that only a specific part of the pattern gets colored giving it a strange yet fantastic look.

Bagru of Rajasthan: - Rajasthan wins for having the most variety of techniques, just lightly saying, time to reveal the technique. The technique involves washing, hard dying, drying, and other parts as the core. The fabric is given some pain by smashing the block hard on it from left to right, but like it is said no pain no gain.

The above phrase proves true here as the end product turns out mesmerizing after the final touches in sequence, drying, washing, boiling, and rinsing are applied.

Bandhani of Gujarat: - It must be no coincidence that wearing of red Bandhani by newlyweds from the state of Garba's origin is so lucky because it is so charming that evil spirits must be just looking at it and won’t do any harm to the husband and wife.

Coming to the technique, the cloth is dyed after being plucked by fingernails into small bindings, the design consists of dots of various sizes against a bright background color. Bandhani is good for wearing in special events such as important rituals and weddings.

It doesn’t matter from which state the technique originated, one thing is sure that the end product is going to be outstanding. The outstanding products are available in bulk only at Jaipur Block Print Fabric Wholesale; the items include Block Printed Nightwear, Kaftans, Sarongs, and a lot more.
